Indonesian Railroad

I've travelled quite a bit by RR on Java, here are some picts I took in the city of Cirebon recently. The track guage is 42", I see no mention of the Indonesian RR anywhere else in the forums, it's a very extensive system, anyone else with any experience riding it?

Here are picts of the Cirebon Ekspres taken on Oct. 1, 2004 during my recent trip to Java. It runs 4 times a day between Jakarta and Cirebon along the north coast of Java, about 3 hrs. each way. These were taken in the Cirebon station.

i havent been to Indonesia , or know much about the system .
The locomotive looks similar to one used here in New Zealand . i Think the model number is U21 c , an export model for narrow gauge .

Prayers to all the families who lost loved ones after Mother Nature decided to trip out and cause this destructive Tsunami.
I watched the evening news and realized the force when they showed the tracks twisted like a pretzel.

The train destroyed by the Tsunami was in Sri Lanka (between Colombo and Galle) not in Indonesia.

the scale of the tragedy now unfolding is massive . Yet to come is the disease and famine caused by it .

From a railroad point of view it may be the end of the line for many branchlines etc , the cost of rebuilding may be the final straw . However the massive human cost must be our first concern .
