The reasons for this heavy crash are still under inverstigation. The 750V/15kV-16 2/3Hz car is surely a total loss, also the Truck..
Due to holidays at the moment the train was less crowded as usual, this led to the "only" seven injuries.

Actually they disconnected the front and rear halves of the tram within a few hours, with the front (not hit) being able to drive back into a depot under its own power.

The rear half was moved off the tracks by a crane:

The track was then cleaned up and reopened in the evening of the same day.

The damage looks relatively miniscule, although that half was ripped off its bogeys:

The damaged tram is a GT8-100C/2S heavy-rail tram-train weighing as much as any other heavy-rail EMU per meter length (... and even empty twice as much as that truck fully loaded).

The car hit was the second of a two-car train. I can't believe that the remaining half can run under its own power. It's surely easier to tow it away, but, we'll see...

Eyewitness reports say, it was towed away by another tram.
It would have made no sense to "fizzle" a partly working train, when towing away is easier.
There are so many interconnections between the routes in Karlsruhe,
so the "cleaning up" is a quick and -sometimes- dirty job.
And the main workshops are not far away from the accident site.
