interesting bridge in NZ

This railway bridge crosses a road, and a river. The road has only 2.3 metres clearance, so they dug a 4.4 metre clearance track beside it for stock trucks to access the farms on the other side.
This would be full of water after a decent rain , I would imagine.

If the cattle truck hadn't made it, they could have let the cattle out and walked them under the bridge. If a train with cattle cars came by, the could have loaded the beef on it. . Make sure that you water them.

I did wonder why they didn't just walk the stock under the bridge. No doubt that is how they did it in the days when the bridge was built.My grandfather was a drover in this area, (I was born just up the road), and it would no doubt have been the practice to drive the stock to the nearest railway station. Nowadays, very little stock is driven on public roads, and non is carried by rail (at least while they are still alive).
