These trips are quite common , maybe 2 or 3 times a year . all the equipments there , they now have track access at a reasonable cost . Remember the costings are in NZ dollars , currently around 0.7 US dollars .
Still defintely quite expenisve , but it would be aimed at the overseas tourist, and not unreasonable i dont think .
i wonder if the 100 passengers per month are at these prices , or if thats the total passengers on the trains . Quite likely the local enthusiast groups running the trains would be offering day sections at lower prices .
NZ is attracting tourists , particulary wealthy toruists , who see it as a secure safe destination .
