For many years there was a blue (Davenport??) 40 tonner parked on still connected but unused rail siding at the entrance to River Terminal Dev. off Central Ave in S. Kearny. What became of it?

Hope so, also, Sully. IIRC it was owned by someone who worked for River Terminals and would once in a while run it up and down that short spur to entertain his kids and friends. I have client in the complex and for years saw it every time I went in the entrance, then all of a sudden it was gone. No-one I deal with there knows why or where.

The unit was parked by the gate for a long while and the guards never really cared if you took a picture of it.

I believe the unit could be stored in the old power house in the back. The few times I was inside there on business, its the only place the tracks go and they do go into the building.
