Are there any RRRR SW900s still in existence in any way shape or form?

Do any of the Raritan River EMD SW900 survive today in 2010?

Maybe. Probably is a better answer. 99.9% of the people you ask will say they were scrapped by Conrail, as most public Conrail records would indicate.

But then there are us, the other .1%!

This discussion would imply that one of the SW900s was indeed saved and is in private use at the Philadelphia Electric Company. The engineer stated he took possession of RRRR #4 from Conrail.

Someday we need to get out there, with permission, and get the builder numbers off the frame (or where ever they are).

Sounds like a great project for our future Raritan River Chapter of the NRHS!

The only one that I cannot account for is # 4.

Tom has shed light that #4 may still be with us.

Thank you for your information.

Is there anyway to railfan it?

The SW900 believed to be ex RR4 is humping coal cars at a power plant.

I wouldn't recommend going anywhere near there with a camera unless you truly enjoy being arrested.

That's Eddystone, PA.

A quick scan of the property on Bing Maps' bird's eye view shows it there from several angles.

Sure looks like RRRR to me:

Hey PVRX1 (James?),

Can I ask what resources you used to determine that? Can we get a copy for our records?

Thanks!

When do they interchange with CSAO?

I wouldn't advise lurking around that power plant w/ a camera. Not unless you enjoy long talks with law enforcement agents.

Yeah your right.

No real resources. Just tracked them through personal observation, ConRail paperwork, miscellaneous reports way back when. # 4 was the only one I never had a disposition for. RRRR was always a local favorite.
