And that raises an interesting point: Once (not "if" - I will be an optimist here) CMSL service is restored to Winslow, will CMSL need to run to ATCO to exchange passengers or will something need to be built at Winslow to handle this?

Was there ever a station there?
I believe Hammonton has been mentioned to be the station that most likely will be the destination for the CMSL. A second independent track can be installed parallel to the NJT line into Hammonton without making a connection.

I guess that may make more sense operationally except that Philly bound traffic would essentially be doubling back and adding time to the trip, although effective scheduling could minimize that and conflicting moves would also be avoided.

Hammonton makes sense because it's very close to Winslow. The doubling back would be minimal.

The vandalism damage to two URHS cars was repaired by CMSL and the cars were added to their Tuckahoe-Richland train on Nov 19.

Tuckahoe Tower looks good with the new windows installed by CMSL.

Since I've ridden the train on two Saturdays, I chased it today.

Your post about CMSL BS is rediculous. It takes many hours to change one RDC window. They are old and the screws don't come out that easy. I know because I changed a couple. I haven't seen the damage done down there but Tony is not going to damage his own equipment, so he doesn't have to run !
On another note, it makes me sick to hear what is happening to the railroad equipment down there. Many people work very hard to make that railroad what it is. Employees past and present meticulously clean and maintain that equipment. CMSL has alot of future ideas and when they come to be, it will awesome.

It might sound rediculous to you, but to a complete outsider, not so much. People do it all the time, damage their own equipment, cars, businesses, and spouses (unfortunately) to collect money in insurance. I hate to see historic equipment damaged and vandalized as much as anyone else, i also hate to see people torch their own cars and houses to collect insurance and kill wives/husbands to collect money. (Robert O. Marshall comes to mind) It happens.

IF the CMSL, or ANY business was having money problems, a restaurant, a deli, a retailer, a service professional (i have no idea if they do, in regard to the CMSL, Im only saying as an example) and needed to drum up a good amount of cash relatively quickly, vandalize or destory some necessary tools/equipment. Insurance company comes, looks, writes a check (i know its not THAT simple, but thats how it usually goes in a nutshell) needed cash in hand, and on top of it, the public sympathy for such a "horrible act" undertaken by cowards on this struggling business, and as the old saying goes, any publicity is good publicity, and low and behold, public is on your side, and business goes up from a previous downturn, and more public awareness and support for your product. And "everyone" is happy, no harm, no foul, right?

Sorry for the negative, and unpopular, view on things, but my Father is a Police arson and forensic's Detective........these things happen WAY more than ANYONE could possibly imagine. Which is why I pay well over a thousand dollars for homeowners insurance and over another grand for car insurance.

As a side, but important note, there is beautiful equipment down there at the CMSL, and i know a lot of people put a lot of time into taking care of it. Which makes vandelism that much more of a kick in the gut.

The April 10, 2006 Vineland Daily Journal carries a story updating the continuing efforts of Buena Vista Township to implement commercial activity, complete with a rail component, within Richland Village. Reportedly included in that component: passenger rail operations beginning this spring.

See http://www.thedailyjournal.com/apps/pbc ... 00308/1002

NJ-ARP, of course, could not be more pleased.

Hello everyone,
On April 11th, other business took me down into Cape May County from my local of Camden County. While down there, I decided that a Woodbine construction update was in order and long overdue, and so I stopped by the junction to check things out. Not expecting to see anything else done since January, I was surprised at what I saw.

We'll start out with a view of the industrial leads and their connection to the Cape May Branch. This was finished as of my last update. We see the Cape May Branch on the far left, and the two industrial leads in the middle and to the right. The center rail is on the original ROW of the Woodbine Secondary, abandoned around 1970:

Moving down to Friedrickstadt Road, we see more of an overview of the junction. This is still facing north. Once again, the Cape May Branch can be seen on the far left, with the leads in the middle and curving off to the right by that power pole:

Continuing down the ROW for the old Woodbine Secondary lead, we come to the end of the currently laid track. The roadbed continues for some distance beyond here to Heine Avenue:

Taking a little bit of a walk, we come to Heine Avenue. Facing south-east, we can see where this industrial track will eventually go. This is the ROW for the original Woodbine Secondary from the days of the PRSL:

http://www.sjrail.com/DailyPhotos/Woodb ... ed_End.jpg

Crossing Heine Avenue and looking back to the north-west, we can see more of an overview of the currently ballasted ROW:

Taking a walk up Heine Avenue and back to Friedrickstadt, we can see that more of the Modern Gas spur has also been completed. This spur curves off sharply from the Woodbine Secondary lead just past the switch for the Cape May Branch. While the crossing over Heine has not been completed here either, maybe a hundred feet of rail has been laid on the east side of the junction of Heine and Friedrickstadt:

And just for fun, I found that the PRSL mechanical switch machine is still on the ground by the Cape May Branch switch there at Woodbine. It can be seen in a close view here:

Hope this gave everyone a decent update on what's happening at Woodbine...take care everyone.

I'd imagine anywhere from a few months to a year from now...no word from official CMSL sources at this time however. I suppose it depends on how long it takes Track Builders to finish the job...CMSL is a secondary job for them and is relatively low priority for Track Builders in terms of construction jobs...

A bit over a year ago I read of airport development plans that included a passenger station so that general aviation aircraft could fly in, park, and take the train in Cape May. Any indication of some sort of platform?

 #236666  by JJMDiMunno

I haven't heard anything about such a platform, but it certainly seems reasonable...could be true. Nothing done like that at this time however...
