Today was the day that the Morristown & Erie move the EL U34CH 3372 from Passaic to Boonton. The ME 18 and ME 19 left Morristown around 8:30AM and arrived at Garfield around 10:30AM.

Aside from one small issue with a large tree needed to be cut on the Dundee Spur in Passaic, the move went smoothly.

How about that. Today I happened to stumble upon the Passaic yard (it's not where I thought it was) for the first time and figured I'd get a photo of that locomotive. Just missed it, I guess.

Great pictures thank you for sharing! And looking at that yard, they should really clean it up. I'm surprised a train could even get thru with all that overgrowth.

Other than this special move and a the special for the 436, I don't think any other trains have run for several years, and prospects for any are rather dim.

Thanks for sharing! Love the Erie Bay Window caboose photo.

That move must have been quite the sight for people expected an ordinary day with no "major traffic" down the street...

I feel like I just landed from another planet... I didn't know there had been a Greenwood Lake Railway (I'm not in North Jersey too often) and I didn't know all that equipment was there. I suppose the proper thing is to search for it in the older threads for the full story (and I will) but just curious, are all those locos out of service? Are they all being moved somewhere or just the U34? Is the U34 going to the URHS? Yes, yes, I'll go look into the threads and check, but this one hit me outta left field. GREAT photos and thanks for posting - so excellent to see a U34CH!

1. So the NYGL is still in operations, yes? Or are they out of business?
2. I remember the U34CH going to URHS - http://urhs.org/blog/help-restore-u34ch-3372/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I'll be sending a donation to aid the restoration. I'm guessing it's going to be in Erie colors? NJDOT?

"This move completed Stage One of “Project U-Boat,” the URHS’s fundraising campaign to restore Erie Lackawanna 3372 to operation.

On October 29, the Morristown & Erie Railway, under contract by the URHS, moved Erie Lackawanna 3372 from the New York & Greenwood Lake’s yard in Passaic, NJ to West Boonton Yard, the URHS’s restoration facility.

“We owe a big thank you to everyone who has donated to make this move possible. Now that 3372 is home in Boonton, we can give it a full mechanical evaluation, continue fundraising, and schedule a plan for operational and cosmetic restoration,” said Steve Gerritsen, Vice President of Operations for the URHS."
