How was the National Train Day turnout? I was down at Ocean Gateway early for the Nova Star tours; it didn't dawn on me until afterwards that it was NTD and you had events going on. Did anyone ever go over to the Nova Star line and hand out "after you see the ferry, come see us" flyers?

I see that the museum is raising funds to do a site assessment for relocation... still no talks of a "merger" with the WWF folks? Preservation dollars are scarce, and this is definitely a "whole is greater than the sum of its parts" scenario, particularly on the MNGM side.

I know for a fact that WW&FRR and MNGRR are NOT interested in a "merger." They co-operate with each other and with Boothbay on a regular basis as it is. There's not enough room for the MNGRR collection up in Alna and WW&F is not about to move South.

I was recently fortunate to be able to get up to Portland when the MNGRR was running their Guest Engineer Program. Running in December and starting at 9AM, the light on the entire line was the best that I have ever seen. From the Portland Press Herald:

The owners of the Portland Co. complex on Fore Street announced Thursday that the Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum will remain on Portland’s eastern waterfront through 2017.
. . .
Donnell Carroll, executive director of the narrow gauge museum, said in a written statement he was happy the two groups reached a lease agreement that would maintain operations in Portland until a new facility is built roughly 25 miles away in Gray.
