Brings new meaning to the phrase, "If you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell ya'!"

Those are standard-gauge bridges on active track. I'm guessing that 6' is the width of the deck itself. Somewhat astonishing that the bridges date from 1901 given the disastrous flooding in 1927 & 2011.

well given the wind and the weather the width of the "deck" would usually be at least 8'6 up to ten feet and then the space from the edge of the timbers to the edge of the plate girders would be at least two feet each for a total width of 12 to 14 feet.

For those who missed it, GMTX 9000 led GMTX 2205 and P&W 4301 west on the Green Mountain Gateway this afternoon in what has to be a pretty solid overuse of power for a nine car freight. 303 and one of the other GMTX leasers were east with perhaps a chunk of the OMYA express, a few earlier at 1545 across route 7

Just seemed odd to me, given Ethanol? power coming up on a possible eastbound OMYA move mere miles apart, and with cars in tow. I was under the impression that the OMYA express previously reached BF in daylight hours. Given this logistical situation, I guess that's not the case. Didn't see the 432 either while up visiting, not sure what was working the cars that kept moving on the several trips I made past the Fairgrounds/road to downtown/Rt.3 yesterday.

That was the return trip, the slurry train left Rutland eastward in the morning. Better to move a few cars, than the usual none that come back on Saturdays! The yard job was beginning to stage cars for the next unit train, as well as serve other customers out that way.

I am looking for some information on the B&R, and was pleased to immediately come across Dick H's reply at the top of the page - great info, thank you.

I do have an additional question on the subject - could someone possibly tell me approximately when the B&R job leaves Rutland, and when it arrives back in Rutland? (assuming it's a rather consistent schedule). A friend is interested in catching the job in Wallingford and was inquiring about good times to catch it.

Thanks guys!
