Steam locomotive #38, most recently on the Knox & Kane,
was sold on October 10, 2008 to Alan Maples of the Everett Railroad.

Number 38 will now join former Bath & Hammondsport #11!
its an odd coincidence that 38 and 11 once operated on seperate lines now run by the LAL! :P

I was working this day, and could not get too far away from the station, or I would have chased them the whole way to Mt. Jewett. How it went was: The crew moved cars around in Marienville to dig out the Railbox and the bay window caboose (barely visible in my pic.) The crew then drove the train to Kane under GP9's power to Kane. They stopped in Kane and TRADED power for the RS36 #70. Yes, traded power. They drove the train the rest of the way to Mt. J with #70 under power. My understanding is that the engine and genset is on an oil rig in TX. Unknown if it is on a land rig, or in the Gulf. The bay caboose is still in Mt J. as of last weekend. Same one that was sold at the auction. Consequently, this is the last move that the Geep made, and then was burnt in the arson fire. The 2 steamers were pulled up from Marienville in Dec '06/Jan. '07, and I imagine the D&H coach that burnt was included in this move too. It was in the Marienville roundhouse on Sept '06 when I was in there.
