2007 Livonia, Avon & Lakeville RR Movements

Anybody heard about any snowplow extras to run on any of the LAL Family raillines? Currently in Avon, 8 inches of snow and it's still falling.

12/5/07 north into Avon about 9am. The engines went into the Avon yard and moved the yard around and took some cars out for Howletts.

A new siding is being installed in the snow, on the west side of the main. Just south of the Aldon Manufacturing driveway. Switch panel is in place and more ties and rail being placed. It is unknown as to the length of the siding and if it will be switched at both ends. Due to the expansion in business in Avon the current yard is usually quite full.

As I guessed in another forum, I will bet this siding will be about 12 or 15 cars long and I venture it will be switched at both ends.

it could be used specifically store cars for Barilla. They are unloading them in groups of 5 or 6 every couple of days from what I can see from the road and extra space is needed

or

this chunk of rail will be used for a pull around route for cars coming out of Barilla. I have seen the empties resting in just about every place in the yard; even on the lead down to Kraft.

Things are really growing here!

Northbound into Avon , with #420 and #425 leading 7 cars about 9am. Havent seen the Sperry truck yet.

12/10/07 LAL #420 rolled into Avon this morning about 11 am on a solo run with about 20 cars. Appears to be stopping to work in Avon.

12/10/07 420 picked up about a dozen cars in Avon - and switched howletts then went north ... reaching Genesee JCT by about 1-1:30pm.

12/14/07 Northbound stopping in Avon with #420 and #425 leading with an unknown car count. I noted that they went light down the Industrial line to Kraft and removed all 10 cars from the facility, leaving none, which could be a seasonal thing.

LA&L crossed Bailey Road heading north shortly after 11:30 am

LA&L switched Barilla after 5:00 pm southbound, and were parked in the shops later.

12/16/07 LAL arriving into Avon, NY northbound with 17 cars shortly after 9am.

12/31 - LAL 420 and 425 and about 26 cars northbound at East River Road around 12:30pm today... as reported by DJS.

This has gotta be the last sighting of the year on the LA&L!

12/31/07 4:45PM leaving Avon NY with #425 leading #420 and a mix of 14 covered hoppers and tankers. Happy New Year!
