9/18/06 LAL Action

Northbound folowing a stop in Avon and a stop at Matthew and Fields Lumber netted the north run with 44 cars. Consists were a boxcar, a centerbeam car, and the usual covered hoppers and tankers. I saw the northbound at Mortimer junction while driving the RIT shuttle at 1:15pm.

Southbound with WNYP #432 leading LAL #420 and a consist of 19 cars. Saw them at Bailey Rd., Henrietta, NY, while driving the shuttle, those 10 mph train movements surely tied up traffic.

Ended up seeing the southbound, in Avon dropping tank cars, on my way home from work around 5:00 pm. The WNYP #432 engine was being action photographed by railfan, Pete Swanson.

Friday Sept 29, 2006

Northbound, Elephant style, long nose first, were WNYP #432 & LAL #425. They arrived in Avon shortly after 9 am and switched the yard to move cars to Kraft and Howlett farms.

Havent seen #420 since the day it was separated from the northbound #425, as seen by Otto. I did note a week ago that the engineer went back to the engine compartment doors on #420 when leaving Avon with #425 leading. Is there something wrong with #420? I have noticed it does send alot more bluish exhaust than the others, I hope there is nothing wrong of the serious nature. Anybody heard anything? I know that #432 was being tested.

10/18/06 North into Avon at 9:50, unknown power, I missed it and the train seemed to have a fairly large count. So I should have typed this as.....I saw the last part of a good sized train entering Avon just before 10 am.

Under heavy rain the northbound LAL train arrived into Avon before 9am this morning with engines #420 and #425 resectively. Switching out Kraft on the Avon Industrial Track 5 for 4 cars and rolled on north around 10am.

Work continues around the Barilla plant. Siding prep is being done as well as an access road on Rochester Street. The Building is getting more enclosed, currently open ended on the south side.
