Most but not all are located in the HDC (Harriman Dispatching Center). Chicago, L.A. area, Roseville, and somewhere down in Texas all have dispatchers located in these local areas.

UP also has dispacthers in BNSF's HQ in Fort Worth TX; these guys dispatch the coal line from North Platte up into Wyoming. There are also lots of terminal dispatchers (TTDs) who are trained in Omaha as road dispatchers but work in large yards all over the system.

Some other dispatcher questions...

How is training, as far as a typical day?

What is the training pay?

Once you are on the extra board, do you have to be within 90 mins of work every single day of the year?

Is there overtime?

How is life working the extra board?

Is there a high turn-over in dispatch?

Thanks for the help, I am use to working rotating shift work in another industry, just curious how it all works out at the UP as a dispatcher.

Ouch... DX'n for the UP kinda sucks!

According to UP dispatch mgmt quaility of life = 0

60min call out (365/7/24)

The pay is what gets people I guess.

Training pay is $3300 a month, and then steps to $4600 after you are qualified.

Then 6 months following that, pay bumps up to $5100

Then 12 months following that, pay bumps up to $5900
