At 1254 hrs. today, Monday 11/14/16 the 114 leading long hood forward and one car that said "Amtrak private car" ( and I think I saw something that said FRA on the side as well) passed over the Derby Greenway on the Waterbury Branch. This is the first time I have seen Metro North run long hood forward in my life.
I am guessing this was a track inspection vehicle of some kind?

Inspection train was parked on Track 27 in GCT this morning w a Genny on either end. Looked like they were set up for a breakfast reception- could see baskets of fresh fruit, pastries etc. laid out on a buffet table. Didn't get unit numbers-- hadn't had enough coffee yet...

6 Amtrak trains per day will be seeing Grand Central this summer as per LoHud.
Metro-North will have some company at Grand Central Terminal this summer. Metropolitan Transportation Authority Interim Executive Director Veronique Hakim confirmed Monday that Amtrak and the MTA have "an agreement" to begin running trains to and from upstate into the east side station, as the national railroad begins much-needed repairs in Penn Station.

I do not think amtrak gets special privileges to do such.
The Amtrak trains Arriving in GCT will need to be looped and backed into departure platform. I doubt MN will take responsibility.
plus since PV cars are private property not only MN yard crew needs access but representative of owner would need to be present.
