I think today there is more and more coordination and cooperation
between the truckers and the railroads. With the high cost of fuel and the
cost of providing drivers the truckers are finding that it is often very good
business to turn over the haulage of a good portion of their contrainers
to the railroads for movement between major terminals.
Here in south Florida alone the Florida East Coast runs eight trains that
carry containers south between Jacksonville (Bowden Yard) and either
Fort Pierce (one train), Fort Lauderdale (two trains) or Hialeah (five trains)
and they move these contains fast over a splendid railroad.
The trucking companies are only too happy to be able to turn their traiers
over to the Florida East Coast and not have to deal with the heavy traffic
conditions that exist on I-95 all through this area.

I would bet that this would only mean local runs and drivers get to spend more time with there familys working a standered 8 hour shift. Which is somethng that vary few drivers get to see from time to time.
