Tri-Rail to offer express trains to Miami to help commuters get to work for $17.50 a day
Tri-Rail's move to offer express service between West Palm and Miami follows Brightline's decision to end $10-per-ride South Florida commuter fares.
Tri-Rail, in an effort to accommodate South Florida commuters, will begin providing 90-minute express service from West Palm Beach to Miami on July 1.
The announcement comes soon after Brightline's decision to raise fares significantly for commuters to focus on its more profitable route to Orlando.
Tri-Rail's express service will include only five stops — West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Hialeah and Miami — instead of the usual 19 stops from West Palm to Miami. The cost of a roundtrip to Miami will be about $17.50 and about $12.50 for a roundtrip to Fort Lauderdale.
