Hi,
Went to New York City last year. I forgot to write a travel report. I did take some photos from the train. Here they are:

I enjoyed the sights between New Carrolton, MD and NYC. I saw Amtrak's Consolidated National Operations Center in Wilmington, Deleware.

I took an Amtrak regional train from Union Station in Washington, DC during the afternoon. The inside of the train is nice and fairly quiet. Maybe I'm just used to subway trains. lol

The train wasn't too crowded. I think only about 20 people were in my car. I think five more people borded the train at Philadelphia.

I saw some farms in rural Maryland and Pennsylvania. North of Philadelphia, I saw lots of refineries.

If I remember anything else, I'll post a reply.

There are refineries *south* of Philadelphia too. One is in Marcus Hook. My stepdad worked there. Amtrak bisects it. It's the first thing you see in Pennsylvania as you ride up from DC/Balt/Wilm.
