I'm not sure if this is the correct area for this question, but can anyone tell me the "Average" distance between the tracks (center to center) when a railroad has a "double tracked" mainline (or a siding that runs parallel to the main)? Thanks

13 foot center to center was common for years; 14 foot is currently the preferred spacing.
