With the new patriot corridor and what not, does anyone know if PAR plans on hiring for conductors at any point in the future? Do they hire new trainees or only experienced guys??

Do they pay in to Railroad Retirement? I know there has been a few disagreements on shortlines wether they do or not. We have one here in Virginia the Buckingham Branch railroad that doesn't pay in to it. So far the BBRR is non-union. Seeing their expanding that might change. On Pan Am website all I saw was great benefits including a 401K nothing else about retirement benefits. I've known a few people that went management on some shortlines from class 1's they progressed through the ranks one is now a VP another is a GM.

That's a suprise since they are always short-handed.
