I recently received a letter saying I was put in the job pool instead of being offered a position. What does this mean? Is this a standard letter or have I been passed up for the job?

What it means is they don't have a position open at the time, but when they do they will have a "pool" of qualified applicants to fill positions.

I went to a interview in april 2007 for CSX, out of the 10 openings they said they would fill, they only hired one. I was put in the "pool" and recieved a call in april 2008 for the job. I am heading down to REDI on may 25th.

It may take some time to get in, Just keep checking in once in a while with HR.

Good luck :-D
