Interviewing with NS this week for a trackworker position. I know that CSX sends all new hires to the redi center in Atlanta. Does NS send new trackworkers to school for a week as well? Any NS track workers posting here? Thanks.

Short answer: Yes.

NS has been using their McDonough Training Center since 1972.

They send EVERYONE there.... C&S, track, MoE, car inspectors, conductors, engineers, dispatchers, and all management trainees.

Have fun!

as a former trackman, there is no formal training involved, you start right out with a track gang.

The last fellow that posted was right. You won't have to make a trip to Georgia. That is for training anyway. I think the only people who have to go are trainmen, engineers, carmen, and management. I know for certain trackmen do not have to train in Mcdonough, Ga.
