The former Blue Comet coach "Westphal" had her trucks removed this morning and is currently on a flatbed truck awaiting transport by the URHS out of Winslow Junction.

The URHS is currently raising funds to do the same for the "d'Arrest", the second Blue Comet coach at Winslow Junction.

Per a recent Facebook post, the "Westphal" arrived in Kenvil, NJ today. Funds are still trying to be raised to do the same with the second Blue Comet coach at Winslow Junction, the "d'Arrest".

Kenvil...seems strange since the URHS web site says:
The URHS is moving the two Blue Comet coaches we own, the Westphal and D'Arrest, that have been graciously stored on the Southern Railroad of New Jersey for the past many years to a new home, on the original Route of the Blue Comet,
I did not know that the "Route of the Blue Comet" went all the way up there!
Possibly an intermediate stop.

Anyway, great to see that the cars will not be left to "rust in place".

The website has not yet been updated. Due to circumstances, the plan to move the cars to Ocean County had to be changed to move them to Boonton instead. Boonton is better since restoration can be more easily accomplished at that existing facility.

Where in Ocean County was the original plan? I cant think anywhere along the line where they could be stored and restored.

Was informed by an SRNJ employee that the "D'Arrest", the second Blue Comet coach, was moved out of Winslow Junction by the URHS this past Monday 8/21.

Is SRNJ running anything these days other than the Pleasantville stone trains and occasional lumber loads? I thought I had heard that the gravel operation south of Winslow on the Southern Division had stopped.

I was surprised to read that the SRNJ (through JP Rail) purchased the 11 miles of the Salem running track from Woodbury to Swedesboro from CSAO. This obviously compliments the already owned trackage to Salem. This is really strange since the Salem branch is almost moribund, and there are no customers (to my knowledge) on the newly purchased trackage. The only current customer on the entire line is an occasional car to the feed mill in Woodstown. Reported here earlier that the telephone pole traffic to Salem has ended. Am I missing something here? Why would anybody spend money on trackage which appears to be close to abandonment?
