I am currently planning to build a model railroad centered around an urban area based roughly situations found in Philadelphia. I am having trouble finding any track diagrams or many decent pictures of the approach trackage to the station. I am particularly interested in the layout of the Green Street engine facility, the station throat and the wye.

I am for various reasons going to probobly shrink the station slightly but I want it to really scream Reading Terminal. Most of the rest of the layout will be more Pennsy inspired.

Thanks for any help ahead of time.

What was the nearest cross street for the Green St. facility?

It was roughly located where Center City Commuter Tunnel portal is near 9th and Spring Garden. The following is a link to what I believe to be the old lead to the engine yard from the old 9th street elevated branch. From a very old (in internet time) news post I believe that the engines accessed the lead from the western-track, decended to ground level and curved underneith the elevated track to the facility which was located to the east of the tracks. The bridge that is marked is new but its location and the grade of the embankment on either side of the bridge is lower then the main part of the elevated structure. I will need to check it out closer in person to see if there are any signs to if it curved before or after the tracks made it to ground level. Though I think in my model I may make them curve before no matter what because it would be more interesting. Though I still desperately need a track diagram of the Reading Terminal and its Approaches (including the Green Street Facility).

I went to the Railroad Museum and took the requisite pictures and composited them in a hand drawing Image

Thanks to everyone that helped.

p.s. the photos of the interlocking boards themselfs can be found on my photoblog http://www.splashblog.com/stayfrosty
