Georgia DOT just bought the 44 mile line that runs from Valdosta north through Ray City, Nashville, and up to Willacoochee, GA.

Check the maps out on:

The former railroad Georgia Florida Railnet (GFRR) was considering abandoning the line, but GDOT stepped in and started talks to purchase the line last year. GFRR was just sold last week to another Rail group "Omnitrax" and is now officially called Georgia Florida Railway (no longer railnet). The local railroad operations of GFRR are not expected to change at all due to the sale. Omnitrax also owns the Fulton County Railway in the Atlanta area.

I thought GFRR still occasionally ran to Langboard in Willacoochee... is it not any longer?

GFRR runs twice a week up that line. Langboard is still an active customer up at the northern terminus of the line. Also, BP Amaco is also active at their facility just south of Nashville.
I also think there are a couple other smaller customers along the line.

NS serves the Valdosta area customers on the line. GFRR / GDOT ownership limits are a mile or two north of the CSX / NS mainline junctions.

So what are the plans for the continued operation of the "Nashville" line up to Willacoochee, and the provision of rail service?

BTW, I think that the State has done a really good job in working with rail operations companies to provide much-improved rail service on the lines that were were virtually given up for dead by their previous owners/operators.
