Found this bit of information from local (Wellsboro, PA) radio station WNBT's newspage-it appears that the railroad will continue to operate.
Update: Friday, Jan. 21, 2005
Well, I should have known better than to provide a link to a website that is updated daily. Here is the text of the message from the WNBT.Net news link that appeared Thursday, Jan. 20th:
Railroad To Stay In Operation
"The Tioga Central Railroad will keep rolling along the tracks of our area, hopefully forever. The Railroad's current president and spokesman, Roger Smith, wants the public to know that the Railroad has no current plans to halt the tourist train.
Smith was elected president of the Railroad at the last Board of Directors meeting, in the aftermath of the Board's rejection of former president Brian Roslund's resignation and the Board's subsequent termination of Roslund for failing to perform the duties of president.
Despite the ongoing criminal investigation regarding the missing revenues, an investigation that was initiated by the Railroad's legal counsel upon information presented by the Board, the Tioga Central Railroad intends to operate the tourist train in a financially sound manner that will allow the attraction to continue for generations to come.
This season's excursions are expected to begin on Memorial Day."
