Looks like its still out there running. Just because an old unit goes threw the 90 inspection doesnt mean its gonna be patched.
Pretty much says below that the UP 8627 doesnt exist yet.

Number 5371 is occupied by a C45AC-CTE (ES44AC).

Most railroads do not use them anymore which is why most former Conrail units have theirs plated over. Some railroads do need to have class lights though.

DRGW 5371 will be Saved for Utah State Railroad Museum at Ogden, Utah

Denver & Rio Grande Western RR fans had plenty to be thankful for around Thanksgiving 2006. The last unrenumbered /unpatched D&RGW unit, SD40T-2 5371 did not receive a Union Pacific roster number as its brethren had in earlier years. The day DRGW 5371 was to receive its new UP number, UP 8627, a letter arrived from Union Pacific’s President Jim Young stating not to patch the unit. The unit will remain in UP service until it suffers a major failure. When that occurs DRGW 5371 will be donated to the Utah State Railroad Museum at Ogden for preservation.

DRGW 5371's number boards disappeared in transit between Provo and Roper Yard, Salt Lake City, Utah. Shop forces at Roper Yard made new number boards for the last DRGW unit. Once the unit is released from Roper it’ll return to Helper, Utah, for trash train duty.

She is lashed up with UP3700 this morning in Roper (as of 0859) on what appears to the the Wendover local or the LUE51. One of them. Too eager to tie-up and get home to look it up and too tired to get on the UP website to do a trace.
