Hi all:
I have some questions regarding the great northern rail lines. Does Whitefield NH still get any use? Along with this, what about all the paper mills such as groveton and berlin? If they do are there any set schedules for seeing them. I think the rail lines in Northern NH run through some nice country and would like to view them.

Whitefield gets rare use, like a delivery to the CSRR.

Groveton and Berlin are both served daily, Berlin is 7 days a week. SLR job 514 works Groveton and is easily accessed by a road that parallels the mill and tracks, and you can cross the river and head down a side street as well, off route 110. They work days.

Berlin is tougher, since most of the mill trackage is buried behind buildings and the sheer size of the mill. The main mill is in Berlin. If you find the station on 16 south, you can see the 511 job switching there, picking up cars and dropping them, from 393 and 394. Normally in the afternoon, 511 runs down the main to Gorham and backs down the Cascade branch into the Cascade mill in Cascade Flats. You can see fairly well from Route 16. These guys work days too.

Groveton is currently up for sale but all three mills seem to be doing well.
