There is virtually no overlap of the routes of VIA's Canadian and the WCE commuter trains. The WCE follows Canadian Pacific's right of way between Vancouver and Mission BC whereas VIA uses Canadian National's. There is a very short section in Mission BC where both may be seen at the same place, and that is between that station platform and the overnight storage yard for WCE in Mission where the eastbound Canadian, VIA #2, passes about half an hour after the last WCE train arrives on Tuesdays and Fridays. The VIA station in Mission is several blocks south of the WCE downtown station, near the Fraser River, and VIA #2 joins the CPR main just west of the WCE station. VIA #1 (westbound) remains on CN throughout.
