Super Steel Inc. (SSI)

A place I try to stop at every summer when I go East is Super Steel in Schenectady/Glenville/Scotia, N.Y. Don't know which one is the most accurate.

It is located in an old armory area East of where I 890 meets NY 5. Turn right, go under the old D&H RR bridge and take the first left.

Last couple of years I have seen them building the SD70M's for UP. Rebuilding the Turbo trains for Amtrak, and damaged equipment in the back.

October TRAINS Page 16 has an article about how how successful the Railpower Technologies "Green Goat" has been.

Demand is so large that they have contracted with SSI to assemble them at their plants in Milwaukee and Glenville.

If you are in the area, you may want to check them out and maybe catch one or more sitting outside.
