• CAW Issues Strike Notice to VIA Rail
  
  With the contract negotiation deadline quickly approaching, the CAW has issued a strike notice to VIA Rail, with the full support of VIA workers across the country. The strike deadline has been set for July 22 at 00:01 (12:01) and the CAW has issued the notice to the company.

So this means that all VIA trains come to a halt if the strike takes place? I've heard VIA has not been having a great year financially, so I doubt it can afford a strike or non-favorable negotiations with the union.

The CAW Leadership has unanimously approved the new tentative agreement reached with VIA Rail. Some of details can be found at CAW.ca. The general membership will be voting on it over the next few weeks.
