…that's hilarious about the cars expanding…would recommend an investment in Ron Karr's book - lots of New England railroad history - from the Branchline Press...I grew up in Walpole and I may have said this before…but Walpole was in Ripley's Believe-it-or-Not' because you couldn't entire or leave Walpole Center without going under or over a rail line…that ended when the Old Colony Wrentham line was taken up - should have made it into a bike path…still a bridge on Common St that went over the line…the former bridge on East St was filled in…the bridges on Washington St in East Walpole, Plimpton St & South St were just taken out, although some of the granite blocks for the East Walpole bridge may still be there…as you said earlier, the old freight house is still there…gee, I'm getting nostalgic for some fried clams at the Red wing…never miss an opportunity when I am in Walpole...
