Does anyone know when the last train (freight or passenger) ran between Spring Valley and Suffern?

Also, where exactly is the washout that's preventing any traffic from using that line now?

Thanks.

I assume ConRail ceased freight operations around 1982 (maybe give or take 4 years either way). I also assume commuter runs ceased well before 1963. I did hear that prior to CR that the EL detoured some PJ trains through SV down the PVL due to a wreck in Ramsey-Mahwah.

I rode the entire line on a fan trip in the late 1950's. Probably
unrecognizable now.

Not sure where the supposed washout is located but on Rt 59 just east of the Spook Rock Road intersection between Monsey and Tallman, NY there was a bridge replacement 2-3 years ago and from the look of the work, it has severed the line to the point that resumption of rail service would require serious work at that location (as well as along the entire line-but that's another story altogether).
