The contractors (Canac) locomotives at FMC/Westvaco. This is where i use to work before i hired on with the Union Pacific. Back then Rail Serve held the contract for this soda ash mine. Canac has been there for about the last 3 or 4 years. Snapped these off as we i pulled the loads out of a rail.

These are the motors they were switching with that night/morning. The view is to the west, the motors are sitting on the Garden Lead.

This motor is sitting on the little engine track. Usually this motor is on the other end of the plant and is used to put the empty hoppers away. There was two wheels and traction motors sitting on the tracks behind that motor, maybe thats why it was parked there.

Most of the time they use all three of there GP's. Dont know if this one here on there run around track was broke down also.

The rest of the pictures.....

Thats an old squawk box that got used alot before radios for the guys on the ground to talk with the yardmaster. That one is on the other side of the OS opposite from the depot. Snapped that one off as we waited for a light to back the power into the yard so we could take it over to the pit to cut some motors from the middle of the set.

Thats a look at the lights.

Theres a look at the old water service pumps to get water from the river from back in the steam days. After that they sold it to the city and it was our water treatment plant for a long time up until about 6 or 7 years ago. Its abandoned now.

Car wash shop, dont know right off hand what it use to be back in the day.

Cleaned car over on the washed tracks.

Theres the rear unit still on the Devil train so we didnt bust the train line and have to pump the whole train back up after bringing the power back to it. It didnt work out that way, soon as i put the air brakes back to trail it dumped the whole train. We spent a good part of the rest of the night getting it back. Had to be right around -15 that night.

Thats all i have to share for that day.

UP

Those shots from Alchem remind me of running some errands this afternoon (was snowy here in MN and close to "white out" conditions for a few minutes there... :( ). (Having a 4WD Jeep is a good thing!!!!)

Still, excellent shots, keep 'em coming. :-D

Good Pics !!!

Glad ya like them, tryed shooting a couple videos and what not from the cab on a couple of those nights. Didnt turn out like i hoped. Too much cursing from the cab, and it didnt really show how fast we were really going, couldnt see the ties getting sucked under the motor. Need to get a little more creative i think. If you guys want to see more of something let me know. Im open to suggestions.

Heres the pictures from our first mission last night. Bused out to the Black Butte Coal Mine to dogcatch the CJBJB. It was already loaded ready to take over to the Jim Bridger Power Plant.

and the right.
Image

Explosion spur track there with the D-rail. Took that one as we wait for our turn to get on the main.
Image

Since it was dark couldnt take any pictures of the canyon that runs between Black Butte and Jim Bridger.

Jim Bridger Power, i wasnt wasting anytime getting up there, so these ones aint that great.
Image
Image

Theres the fly-ash cars i dont have to handle tonight.
Image

And these two are the tipple where the plant guys unload the train.

Didnt take any pictures while we were on our next mission(dogcatch a local that turned into a run threw), too dark, too foggy, too snowy. Slippin Slide down the Stauffer Branch without going off the derail, waited our turn, and took it to town.
