I hopped off the turnpike yesterday afternoon to check outy the lower end of the S&C.

At Rockwood, I found the local power and train tied up on the eastern most siding. Power was a GP30 road slug set, with a number of gondolas and tank cars behind.
On the main track was a unit coal train with SD70MAC 715 and a GE widecab. So I guess the either the reopened coal loadout is producing quite abit of traffic or CSX backed a coal train in off the main to get it out of the way.
On the western track was a ConRail Jordan spreader and ballast hopper(s).

The coal train is off of the coleman branch. They have been loading trains out of there now for about 2 months. They are still a little sparatic though, there has been about one every week and a half. The nice thing about the coal trains is that you get to see the six axle power, and GE's on the S&C, which is a traditional 4 axle EMD strong hold due to some clearance issues near Johnstown, plus traffic doesn't warrant the big power normally. The coal trains have been using the symbol T586, and have usually consisted of a pair of six axle AC units and about 60-70 cars. Also the Jordan has been sitting in Rockwood for a while now, they occasionally use it to clear the branch in the winter time.
