The 2005 EL calendar published by The Weekend Chief has a picture of the GE U50C demonstrator and 2 EL units in Port Jervis Yard. The caption states that the unit was moved from the GE plant due to a possible labor action.
1st question: Why was it moved? Was GE afraid that it would be vandalized or destroyed during the labor dispute? I would think they must have had reliable inside information that something was going to be done to that unit if they moved it several hundred miles away from the plant.
2nd question: While it was on EL property was it utilized by the EL for any revenue trains, and if so, does anyone have pictures of it in EL service other than the photo in the calendar?
Thanking everyone in advance for any information!
