I'm not sure if I follow you. "Diesel" could be read two ways....

Option one: Build rotary snowplow with its own internal Diesel powerplant, push with locomotives [Diesel, steam, or electric].

Option two: Build rotary snowplow with no internal power, so it needs both blower power and movement from locomotives.

{also, of course...}
Option three: Build self-propelled, self-powered rotary snowplow.

It seemed like many of the photos were of Option One, steam. I assumed that was because such photos were more prized than of modern counterparts.

I'm not clear on what percentages of each exist. The advantage of Two is they will be cheaper, and need far less maint. then One or Three. This is especially true since they may be run only a few hours a year.

Are there Opt 2's with electric motors driven via Slug connections?
