I'm currently reading a book on the DL&W and it mentions quite frequently the L.C.L. transfer at Port Morris. What does that stand for?

LCL= Less than Car Load. In other words, the shipments of several shippers were combined into one box car, off loaded, and sent along to their sundry destinations.
