Well at the very least the LRV's would allow operation to Fox Chase without having to rip up track to separate the Newtown portion from the Fox Chase portion of the line. Why the requirement to run directly into CC? If scheduling is done right, transfer time could be minimized. But this could be at ...

Newtown Line and Riverline

Rode NJT's Riverline for the first time today. Very nicely done. Quick, smooth, comfortable and diesel! Its amazing that here in Philly we can't accomplish something like this. Too bad it cost so much and got so much negative publicity. To my suprise, the cars were stuffed with riders, many of cours...

I don't know why SEPTA doesen't use this more often, 2nd street is very light in the morning. and with 3 minute headways its not a major imposition to have a handful of people wait. Then again, how much time is really saved skipping a station? although when it comes to regional rail, SEPTA is over-e...

Its unbelieveable that with the number of non-electrified lines in the city that are now freight only, we can't get enough support to run low-cost diesel service on some of these routes. The NYSL would be a great candidate as it does run through some densly populated areas. Great stations could be a...

I'm sure SEPTA is trying to kill the final remnant of the Newtown Branch. I'm sure they would love to knock down Newtown Juntion, put up a big fence so that no one can see the CSX trains headed to Neshaminy. This line in effect is probablly the "Reading equivilant" of the R6 Cynwyd branch....

I'm not saying the freight companies should take over the commuter ops because they have money. I would not expect them to pay for a nickle of running passenger lines. However, I think something is to be gained by having a organization whose culture is dedicated to efficient railroading running our ...

I'm wondering why our government was so insistent on separating frieght railroads from passenger railroads in the '70's. I'm sure circumstances were different then, but today freight railroads are making money hand over fist. I'm not about to say lets dump all passenger rail operations on CSX and NS...

Its too bad it will never run with wires on the Keystone Corridor being right at the end of their line. I'd love to take a steam trip at Strasburg and at the end of the line hop on a E-60 train to Lancaster Station.
There is going to be a station at Paradise someday.....

From what I've heard from a good source is that service is set to start in Mid-June with whatever PCC's are back and the balance with the LRV's. If all of the PCC's arent back by September then the trolleys will come off and the busses will go back until all cars are ready at the next schedule chang...
