These aren't mine but I thought I'd pass the link on to anyone interested. http://mediaarchive.ksc.nasa.gov/search.cfm Search using the keyword "railroad" or "Florida" and "railroad" to get some recent pictures of the FEC and the NASA railroad making an interchange at J...

Finally made it to Folkston yesterday afternoon. Saw five trains in an hour including a meet right in front of us. The evening ended (for us anyway) with the Autotrain northbound. The viewing platform parking lot was packed so we parked by the museum and watched from there - nice place to watch trai...

The plans for the new Water Discovery Center of the Catskills in Arkville show what looks like a stop on the DURR (http://www.waterdiscoverycenter.org/01b_loc.htm)? Is this something new or planned for the DURR? If this stop is part of the Water Discovery Center did the DURR get any of the grant mon...

Activity through Bristol, CT area

Does the line through Bristol, CT see much activity? Is it a Guilford line? I'll be in the area this summer and was wondering if there is much traffic to watch. Also are there any good vantage points for getting a look or photos of the tunnel at Terryville?

Thanks in advance.

We're planning on taking the AT in July (2 adults + 2 kids). Anyone have any suggestion/comments/preferences on the accomodations (roomette, bedroom, etc)? We've taken it before and mainly went coach. One leg last year we tried the Family Bedroom - a little cramped but it had beds and it was quiet. ...

I recently found a reference to a Delhi-Bloomville trolley in the “One Hundred Years Ago” section of the "Walton Reporter." The surveys were in work for the line. The Delhi end was to start at the O&W station. No mention was made of the Bloomville end. It seems the U&D station woul...

Kissimmee Valley Line remnants?

Are there any visible remnants of the Kissimmee Valley Line south of Maytown where it would have crossed the present day locations of SR 46, SR 50, SR 528, Nova Rd (Between Cocoa and St Cloud), or SR 192? Where there any stations in this area?

Gordon,

Thanks for the info. I always thought the branch was formally abandon back to Stamford prior to 1976. But the amount of traffic Bloomville generated would amount to the same effect.

And yes, if your thinking of George Robertson - I'm his son.

Did you know him?

Oneonta Power Plant

There have been some articles in the Oneonta newspaper regarding a wood chip burning power plant to be built on the site of the D&H yards. I think it is currently in the permitting process. Is this being built at that location to utilize the rail service or because it is an undeveloped open area...

Unfinished lines in the upper Delaware and Schoharie Valleys

Several weeks ago an article appeared in the “100 Years Ago” section of the Walton Reporter (Walton, NY) regarding Delaware & Hudson plans in the Schoharie Valley and Delaware East Branch. This article (that would have appeared in the newspaper in 1906) discussed the surveying of a line for the ...

Penn Central on the Catskill Mountain Branch

As a kid I remember seeing Penn Central in Bloomville, NY when it was the end of the Catskill Mountain Branch. This had to be just prior to when the line was cut back to Stamford (1972-74?). The trains were usually only one locomotive and one boxcar to service the Agway feed store in town. Anyone ha...

Along side the Catskill RailTrail in Bloomville is the foundation of a what appears to be a turntable. It appears to be in pretty good shape except for the trees growing up in it. I imagine this was built when Bloomville was the end of the U&D in the 1890s. Does anyone have any info on the timef...
