Re: Bridge over I 787

These tracks were used by both the Delaware & Hudson and the New York Central (for its Troy-Schenectady branch). East of the bridge the tracks split; a Delaware and Hudson branch went northward, through Green Island, and rejoined the D&H main north of Waterford. The other branch continued ea...

Naugy, the E-9 is reportedly heading to Clifton Forge, VA. Mr. Norman, correct on all three points. No one seems to know what the track is rated for, who inspected it, or when. The earliest notification something was up was when Pan Am dropped the flatcar on Wednesday. Of note, Housatonic 3600 and t...

Thanks for the heads up, I caught it several times from Danbury to New Milford. To re-cap, Pan Am left an idler flat at Derby yesterday (Wednesday), and Housatonic came down today to grab it (and reportedly left a different car in Derby for Pan Am to pick up). They booked it to Danbury in under 2 ho...

Regarding the Conn. Southern, at the very least engine facilities at Cedar Hill could be consolidated (if Conn. Southern finds itself needing to lay over there, anyway). A locomotive pool could be instituted between the two roads there, not to mention the fact that Pan Am will no longer be involved ...

The only thing being lost is P&W's individuality. Alright, I can agree with all the other points, but I'd question that last one Chris. Most of the marketing stuff is handled on the regional level over at G&W from what I understand, but you've still got the same crews and on-site management...

That's the thing; it's not. Looking at P&W's last few financial statements didn't have me worried, but I wasn't thrilled either. Not significantly in the red but not quite a decent profit. Largely, I feel like they suffer some of the same problems the New Haven did; too much operating territory ...

Definitely good for business, but I can't help but feel a loss at their loss of independence.

As suggested by another forum member, re-posting this into its own topic:

RPI will be decommissioning the ex-Alco nuclear plant at the end of the spring semester to make way for the casino. We don't know yet if it will be relocated.

Sorry to dredge up an old topic, but this seems to be the most relevant thread.

7312 got a rebuild and red dip awhile ago. It's a shame, it was the most recently painted of the three lightning stripes.

I don't believe they are the same car; as far as I'm aware, Watch Hill is the one you photographed, and Bunker Hill is still rotting away in Orrville (with a few other pieces of ex-New Haven passenger equipment).
