Re: Brightline Orlando Launch Discussion

Now Orlando is a horse of a different color; the FAA does "not exactly" appreciate high rises around an airport's perimeter. A big complaint about the Orlando station I've heard is how it goes to the airport, and there is nothing around the airport to go to without having to pay for an Ub...

Planning on trip to Portage IN and on to Michigan City which for some odd reason does not alow bikes The reason is that because the stations that they only ...

I was on the CTA site and saw a change in service notice that between midnight and 4:00 am no passengers were permitted to board Blue Line trains at O'Hare. Riders have to take a bus to Rosemont in order to board the trains during these hours. BUT, passengers CAN ride the Blue line from Rosemont to...

Moderator Note:
An almost similar topic was just locked recently.

All this is a recruitment video for people to join Metra PD and since I see no railfan relation to it I am locking this Topic.

If any railfan connection comes out then it will be reopened but until then this topic will be locked.

Best option: Close it and build a station near I-65. But NICTD found that was not politically acceptable. I knew the I65 station was delayed but I didn't know they gave up. What a crock of crap. I-65 is like ten minutes away from Gary, not like they were avoiding the place. God forbid they build a ...

While stopped at a RR crossing today (Nov 6, 2016) near Genoa City, WI , we saw a train pass that looked a lot like the picture linked below. These are the tracks that originate at Union Station in Chicago, go through FoxLake, IL and Walworth, WI. There were several rail fans taking pictures as the...

Look out for 417, that has been converted back in July and was doing test runs on the Rock Island for the past couple of weeks according to one of the Metra Engineers I know, and photos he took of it. Suppose to be sent back to run on the MD/NCS pool any day now. I should had started this earlier, b...

Any regular stop on the Metra BNSF Line is good to railfan at. I mostily railfan the Racetrack at LaGrange Rd. Station, or Western Springs since I live within 15 mins. of both of these stations. N. Oak St Bridge is good unless you want to walk or get a ride because the closest metra station there is...

Speaking of paying fares, I'm amazed at the increase in the cost of a one-day pass compared to only 4 years ago. When I last rode WMATA in 2010, the cost was $ 8.30 . I see on WMATA's website that today the cost is now a whopping $ 14.50 !!!????!! Was this increase incremental over the last 4 years...

Amtrak.com site is back online. Has anyone noticed that railroad.net has been going down recently? Seems like 2 or 3 times in the last week it has been down because of a SQL error... You are not the only one when I was trying to get to railroad.net I kept getting an error message, or server not avilb.
