N2JNG here.....Jim from Toms River NJ
Lets us know how your trip goes. Haven't been there in a few years and might be going back soon.
Does 502 even run anymore?
I actually thought NJT scrapped all of these a few years ago.
Very nice catch!
Hopefully I can get out and catch a picture of one of these while they are still looking shiny & new.
This is so sad...My condolences go out to their families & friends. Will keep them all in my prayers this week.
The Holiday Inn in Cumberland is a place I've stayed in the past. On several trips out, I passed the time on a cold winter's night watching the trains out of the window of my room while listening to the scanner and having a few drinks.
Heard a rumor that there was a derailment on the CSX River Line, somewhere in NJ this weekend.
Any truth to this rumor? Anyone have any details?
So after having my pictures sit dormant on the computer for almost 7 years, I decided to start uploaing them. Here are 2 from the Autumn of 2005 taken at Iona Island, NY. http://firechasere3.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3082301 http://firechasere3.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?...
Ive use these smartphone apps...not a fan of them personally. For FD/PD/EMS, you only get a limited amount of stuff you can hear and nothing usually for RR related items.
My personal favorite is Sand Patch. You get some nice freights out in the mountains of PA..and Cumberland, MD is just a stones throw away.
Really nice place..and every time I visited I met some really nice local people.
Hey all. I would love to join your group to get some pics and shoot the breeze...but I'm not sure if I'd be able to get off of work from my 2nd job on Sat. Been out of the hobby for a few years since I got married...and have been looking to get into this again. If any of you guys would be interested...
Great video. Reminds me of the days when I used to ride from Secaucus to Madison and back everyday for work. I miss those days of sittin back and staring out the window to relax after a stressful day. How did you pull this off though without anyone overracting and panicking at the site of a video ca...
It's been a year or two since I've been out photographing on the River Line @ Iona Island. How is the traffic on Sundays nowadays? I remember back in the day you would get good traffic in the AM before 10 and afternoons after 2...but in between it was hit or miss. I'm thinking of heading up there in...
Actually the Lyndhurst station caught fire...prob about 4-5 years ago. I worked that fire and there was no real structural damage to the building. I am sure with a little TLC, something positive could be done with the station....maybe it could be fixed up and opened for customers to stay out of the ...
If you're interested in photographing the excursion trains that the Whippany Railway Museum does, and that the M&E generally pulls, you may wanna check out the museum's site. http://www.whippanyrailwaymuseum.net/ They only run on specific weekends throughout the year...and I believe the next one...
