There was a period of time in the 1990s when PODH/DhPO was about the only train on the west end. At that time I went camping along the B&A. The Bow trains happened to come through. Therefore they did run coal via the B&A to Worcester for a while.

I believe that there was a thread somewhere that Noel Weaver talked about some Oak Point trains either running via Beacon and either the Danbury line, or maybe even Derby Junction to Devon.

I have run helper engines many times. The main point that I take into account is to not push too hard, which might make cars derail, especially if they are empty. My main goal is to just take enough load off of the lead consist so they pull what they are able to, while I mainly am pushing the excess...

Is there information about where the units stored for Itel went? I know that around the same time several ex Conrail GP40s went to Rio Grande, Katy, and C&NW.

I’m glad that you are taking Brian Solomon’s work seriously. I’ve been friends with him for over twenty years. He has interviewed me about a book on locomotives, and he has also asked other mutual railroader friends for their input. My opinion is that he does his homework.
