Pardon me, but, you guys are talking about the railroad without taking the pandemic into consideration. Do you think that, had there not been a pandemic, things would be better?
Court was my favorite engineer on 7470, his whistle signature was unique, so was Paul's, although Paul mainly favored the whistle that was located behind the bell round trip, while Court would mainly use the CN 6 tender first and the whistle behind the bell nose first. That's one thing that's gone f...
You would think someone would have fixed it by now.
7470 did get stuck on the turntable the day I went up during the week between Christmas and New years in 2020. However I think the air hose that powered the turntable was too short so they had to swap hoses, it wasn't out of incompetence. Dave was the engineer and didn't run the engine too hard that...

One of their guys posted something on one of the FB groups a bit ago about those days, I can no longer find the post. They did advertise it in an edition of trains magazine I have.
ConwayScenic252 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 7:52 pm There will be an event on the weekend of august 3-4 which includes some special freights and probably 7470I mean, this post is the first i've heard about it. I don't know if the guy in that FB group had more details.
I hope they will, that engine is a New Hampshire icon, it's way too valuable to that railroad.
Heck, going up to the railroad for me is STILL something I look forward to and it'll always be something I look forward to, I love chasing the Conway Scenic. As it pertains to the 50th, August is still a few months away so, maybe around late June-mid July, they'll start promoting it. I don't think y...
I strongly disagree, I think we will see 7470 under steam again, the swirks would be crazy not to fix what's wrong with it!
Thank you for bringing up the airshow, people wanna say that the diesels did all the work, I chased the excursion that day and I can confirm that 7470 was working hard when I caught her in Gateway. As for the no refunds or vouchers, that is surprising and a bit saddening to hear, and I bet it's frus...
For all the bad-mouthing that the Swirk guys got here, by that tidbit of info you just gave, at least they care about safety on the railroad. I am not one of the guys that think that Dave's ruining the railroad, I feel that, had the COVID 19 pandemic not happened, Conway Scenic would be just as good...
It has been mentioned here that there will be a special event August 3-4, so, i'm guessing that that is the reason why there are no departures for those two days.
I heard Court wasn't there anymore, I used to love going to that crossing just to talk to him (also, that crossing is a go to place for special events if you don't want a crowd of people in your shot, just a helpful tip) It's a shame that 7470 isn't used as often, and Court really put his effort int...
I wonder what the August 3-4 event will have in store, maybe it'll be like the old Railfans Weekends if freight trains are going to be a part of it.
