Re: Penn Station Renovation & Expansion & Moynihan Station

As far as I know (and I could be wrong), Amtrak will not be doing any "moving in" as part of Phase I of the Moynihan Station project. So that seems to be an unlikely reason for why Phase I has not yet completely opened.

A single frequency by its very nature affects capacity; that's one less train of excess capacity. If you had read up-thread, the proposals are 6-10 peak hour trains, with 4 reverse peak, with two-off peak trains in each direction. How is that not going to affect capacity? For example (and I'm compl...

Yes, but not necessarily enough to affect planned/actual service levels.

Pelham bay drawbridge is over a navigable waterway , the coast guard would not allow a fixed bridge. He didn't say it had to be on the same vertical alignment. MN does not serve Queens So? MN doesn't serve Midtown West either. But that's not stopping them. So is there more to it? and putting up a s...

I was on the 6:20 out of Grand Central to Harison today. At New Rochelle, they announced that the front three cars would not open (which is usual; they're beyond the platform), but also that the rear two cars would not open. The cars are in the station, they just didn't open the doors, and made peo...

Hopefully Zaro's stays, that might be the only place left to get a New York bagel and a coffee in the terminal.
You can get a bagel at Mendy's Dairy on the lower level.

How do you know?

The news article I linked to below says it happened Saturday morning. I wanted to add, a followup article notes the driver in the Roaring Brook Road incident, a Mt. Vernon woman, was ticketed by MTA police. Cynthia Parent, 67, was issued the summons for obstructing a highway railroad/grade crossing...

Anyone know a schedule for, or generally when or how often NYNJ Rail travels up and down 1st Avenue north of their car float yard? Thanks.

The storm was a bust. Sorry I didn't post any updates. I didn't end up traveling as much on Monday as I thought I would. And because the storm was a bust, I didn't go out to take photos on Tuesday. But I did take some photos during Monday's PM rush. I'll try to post those. This morning's commute in ...

I'll be riding MNCR to and from work tomorrow so wish me luck. I'll post updates from work and from home but probably not from my phone onboard MNCR because this site isn't exactly mobile friendly, from what I recall.
