I saw SD-80MAC 7209 sitting in Marysville near the bridge a few weeks ago. Never seen one before that. I was suprised by the scratching sound it makes when idling.

Every now and then a Mac will appear on the B&A as a trailing unit. The Interiors are in poor shape and maintainance is horrable...sad to think about it once the pride of the fleet. I've had the pleasure of riding in all but 3 of the units

Are the interiors similar to the SD70MAC's?

I felt my prior post was getting long so I will ask here.

Don't some of the SD80MACs have a lease that expires in 2010? Hopefully at least one will be in still be in CR blue by then.

Yes I am pretty sure they were. The SD45 line of the 1960s and 1970s with its V16 was the closest EMD came to a V20 until the SD80MACs.

Saw NS 7210 freshly repainted and it struck fear in my heart.

Should be getting some SD80MAC photographs when I head to Pennsylvania in late April.

The SD45s and SD45-2s had V20s, not V16. the '40 series ( and 38s, and 50 and 60 and 70, etc) had V16s

I beleive the only V20 EMDs were the SD45s and SD80s (domestically at least)

The SD45 (and related models--SD45-2, SD45T-2, F45 etc) had 20-cylinder, 3600 hp 645 engines. The SD80MAC has a 20-cylinder, 5000 hp 710 engine--so it's not the only model with a 20-cylinder engine, but it is the only one with a 20-cylinder 710.

Video!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsP6s4wCUUk

I have recently obtained a DVD recorder, and I am uploading video, from the 1990's, to Youtube.

The second unit is 4135, as I pan the camera, but I can't read the number on the lead unit.

There is an additional shot of a helicopter, and a freight on the Long Island, which brings this video to a little over 3 minutes.

I have more, but It takes time to transfer material from VHS to DVD, and more time to convert the files to MPEG-4. Note- I am using a "Free" trial version of the software to make the MPEG's, and thus it says "Evaluation Copy" on the screen.
