I have multiple primary source Folio documents which prove that the D8 existed and was used in the FT and F2 locomotives. I found another primary source document recently from a B&M source that shows B&M F2s were equipped with the D8B generator. The D8B would be the D8 generator coupled to the D14 companion alternator. Since the F2 was an interim fix for the late arrival of the D12 generator it makes sense that the D14 companion alternator was coupled to the D8 for that short production run. And knowing that the D8B existed the previous D8s may have been called D8A.
The Classic Trains F unit issue is wrong twice about the D4 being used in the FT. The editors really messed up that issue. And note that Preston Cook hasn't written for Classic Trains since that issue.
