That's a terrific film that was restored and studied by various historical groups. Originally, the film was thought to have been shot in 1905, but by the examination of much minutia- weather, businesses visible- even license plate registrations, it was eventually determined that it was shot on April 16, 1906 - just two days before the infamous San Francisco Earthquake. A camera was bolted to the vestibule of a cable car as it proceded easterly on Market Street. Practically all of the buildings seen were wiped out in the Earthquake, but a few did survive like the Flood Building, visible on the right side. When Market St. was rebuilt, it was rebuilt for electric trolley service. The Ferry Building can be seen at the end of Market St., getting larger and larger, as the car approaches. A terrific movie !
