Happen to be driving north on the Turnpike today and noticed new track laid in the fomerlly vacant field between the precast plant (?) and Fed Ex off the end of the end of track on the Saco Industrial track. Approximate coordinates are 43.538233 N x -70.440211 E.

Anyone have any info as to what's going on? Is Casco Bay Steel going to stop transloading from down by I-195 and get direct shipments? TIA.

Are those other two customers in Google Earth still active? they have cars and the image says 2015. One is a centerbeam and the other looks like flats of steel.

The business with the m/t centerbeam is still active,

I don't see any flats, but I believe this parking area is used for transloading, rail to truck by
Casco Bay Steel Structures located just up the road from there on Industrial Park Rd.

Meant to post this Tuesday, but I drove by this new site on the Turnpike and the cars of plate steel were being unloaded here instead of the large "parking lot" down by I-195. It would appear Casco Bay Steel is the customer as they're right next door.

The extension is in the process of being built.. Last time I went by they had the railed graded ties and rails laid out and looked like the rails won't just be serving the steel company but the customer to left side of Fed Ex driveway as there were ties and rails going into that property, and the graded bed turned right to head to steel company..
